Which skills are developed?

Visual spatial awareness – recognising the position of yourself and objects (such as next to, above, below)
Coordination and motor (movement) planning – carrying out the steps to a task in a coordinated, organised way
Scissor skills: being able to use a pair of scissors with grip and control

What you’ll need

Paper plate (with 4–5 different shapes painted on in 4–5 colours)
Paint in 4–5 colours
Paint brush
Cut out shapes (that match the paper plate shapes)
Scissors

Details

Encourage your little one to paint the shapes and cut them out using a correct scissor grip
Draw an ‘L’ on your little one’s left hand and foot and an ‘R’ on your little one’s right hand and foot as a visual (sight) cue
